Adventure Guides and Indian Princesses

What is YMCA Adventure Guides and Princesses?

Created more than 75 years ago, the YMCA Adventure Guides program focuses on fostering companionship between fathers and children. The “Friends Always” and “Pals Forever” motto conveys the heart of the program - to build a strong bond between the parent and child that they will enjoy for years to come.

With a strong emphasis on family, the program also allows participants to experience nature, earn awards, meet other children and parents and, of course, have loads of fun! With the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility providing direction to the program, parents and their children enjoy a wide variety of positive activities together.

Who are YMCA Adventure Guides For?

Fathers and their children ages 5 to 9 (K–4th grades).

How does the program work?

The program is set up so fathers and their children have special time together twice each month, alongside  other program participants in groups called  “tribes.”
